Red and Cream Sewing Necessaires

I absolutely love red and cream......and these fabrics are some of my favorites. Here are just a few of my favorite reds...these sell as fast as I can list them! They are such nice gifts....and one gal said this is for me!!!! Made me laugh.
I dyed a beautiful red  floss just for these and I am including a small wooden spool with 1 yard of a mini red ric rac. It is adorable!
Singer sewing machine charm, scissors, hand made hearts, red heart buttons and I loved the red PLAID buttons! I have been saving these for something special and I think this is it.

I don't know if I will have time today to show the green and cream prints but I will try.

Also remember that the 15% of all of my floss, including collections, is ending tomorrow. This was my last sale for this year. Please make special arrangements with me if you need me to hold something for you.

Back to taking pictures!

My ALL TIME favorite blue fabric for sewing necessaires

I decorate my house with a lot of red....antique red and cream.....I love red. And I also love an antique-looking dark blue. Like Flow Blue china......I absolutely love that china. So when I saw this fabric a couple years ago I bought it by the bolt. If I like a fabric...give me the whole bolt.

I dyed a cluny lace trim dark navy....used dark navy grosgrain ribbon for the tie.....pulled out some vintage cluny lace in cream and ecru.....dyed some dark navy, hand dyed some blue buttons and a dark blue floss and I had a box of vintage cream color buttons so I will use some of those. I added a few charms...scissors, sewing machine and made for you. Wool felt needle pages with my signature large flower head pin and my own little wool felt button/charm bag. Perfect!

Next.....I took the Moda fabric that reminded me of the Williamsburg sampler fabric ( I wish they had not discontinued that fabric as everyone asks me if I still make those) and I made a few out of the light blue and cream and the darker blue on blue fabric. I need to check to see how many I can make with the fabric I have. Of course they discontinued this one too!
I dyed buttons and my Ocean Waves floss went perfect with both fabrics...vintage trims and some hand dyed cluny ric rac...charms, buttons, etc.

Little bundles of sewing treasures is what one customer said after she received her order. Made me smile.
I will be listing these later today in my ebay store and they are also available direct from me. I always get emails after I post items so I figure I might as well give you the details up front. They are $25.95 plus postage.
I will give one of these away during the 12 Days of Christmas so be sure to stay tuned.
I announce a different give-away each day from December 1st through the 12th. Sign up for as many as you like or all of them. Then I announce the winners on the 13th through Christmas day. Lots of posts....lots of work....lots of gifts...and lots of fun!!

Thanks for stopping by.....I better get back to work!

A new floss line for 2016!

I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you about my new floss line for 2016. I have always done limited editions. So when a color sells out, I don't dye that color again. The exceptions are the colors I use in the motto kits. Over the years I have turned down  opportunities to sell my floss because I only wanted to do limited editions. Well the time has come. I have had dozens of people ask me to do colors that I will keep in stock and I will do a whole line of colors in 2016. I will start with 130 colors. Believe me....that is a lot of colors to start with. I just placed my order with my DMC rep and the first part of the order will ship next week and the rest has to come from France. Then it will be a dyeing marathon followed by a floss carding marathon. I probably will wait until all the floss is done before I introduce the new colors.

Now....for pricing. I have been selling my 20 yard skeins for $2 for over 8 years to bring you a great value. DMC had 3 price increases during that time and I didn't raise my prices. This time their price increase has forced me to charge $2.50 for my 20 yard skeins. Considering most of the other over dyed companies charge $2.50 for  5 yards, I think my floss is still a very good value.

All of my current inventory will remain $2 until it sells out. I have a lot in this inventory and it is currently on sale for $1.70 per skein if you buy in my ebay store or direct from me. This sale ends on the 15th of this month so if you want to stock up I recommend you do it now and tell your friends the sale will be ending soon.

I want to say that I have turned down many offers over the years to have stores carry my floss. To do that it would have raised the price and the whole purpose of me selling my floss was to save stitchers money. Plain and simple. So I sell my floss wholesale price to all of you.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this. I am excited about this new floss line.......I get to play with dye and experiment with colors! Some of my favorite things to do.
I will keep you posted as to when the new colors will be available. I will offer a large selection.....soft sampler colors, primitive muted tones and a beautiful assortment for all of your stitching projects.

It sounds like the end of this year and the beginning of next year are going to be very busy around here....but that's nothing new!

My all-time favorite Sewing Necessaire!

This has to be my all time favorite fabric that I use for the sewing necessaires. I bought 10 yards of it a few years ago and I have sold quite a few of the necessaries in this fabric. It is a beautiful tan floral and is so antique looking. If you know anything about me....99% of everything in my house is antique! I love the "old fashioned" look to this print.
I love the sewing charms I include with this one. The adorable little dress hanger with frills on it....the antique bronze key and the little pile of 3 tiny buttons charm. Oh yes....can't forget the little wooden spool of hand dyed cotton cord I include.  I always include a skein of my floss, felted wool needle pages with the large bronze pin and my own signature button bag, felted wool and made by me, with the tiny antiqued safety pin with the bulb end on it. And a nice assortment of wood buttons. A great little package and a nice gift to give. I will be sure to have the give-away during the 12 Days of Christmas. I will probably give you your choice of fabrics on the actual give-away. My favorite may not be yours! lol

Thanks for stopping by. These will be available direct from me and in my ebay store when ebay quits giving me trouble with the picture uploader. I have been trying for hours this morning with no luck. Patience is a virtue.....so they tell me.

Sewing Necessaires are done and here are a few photos

What a busy two weeks it has been. Every time I started sewing I had to stop for other things. I finally managed to get 80 sewing necessaires done. I have all the buttons, trims, charms, needle pages and the hand made felted wool button bags done too. I am now doing the finishing touches. Sewing on the mother of pearl heart as the pocket divider(or a hand made charm on some) and I am sewing on mother of pearl rings to run the ribbon through on the back side to dress them up. Lots of work!!

I like limited editions as you well know. I ran out of the Williamsburg Sampler fabric after selling dozens of these last year. I also had some of the Moda fabric with the sampler and alphabet that was similar. It is also discontinued now. Why do they do that??
Any ways....I took the medium blue background and dyed it light brown.  I also dyed seam ribbon for the tie and a beautiful skein of floss to add to it. I like an antique look. I also have some of the other colors in the fabric and I will leave then as they are and make some necessaires this week.

The bottom photo shows the other shades of fabric that I will use.

I have so many fabric combinations......lots of Christmas fabrics, antique tan floral is one of my favorites.
These make such nice gifts. I have 10 set aside that are already sold and a couple for give-aways (and I will have one soon). I have started listing these on ebay today with the tan fabric and I will list more soon. They are $25.95 on ebay.

Thanks for stopping by. I will show you more pictures as I get time.

I am finishing all the hand made sewing necessaries. I got side tracked as I had an order for two stitched and framed mottoes from one of my regular customers and that took 12 hours to stitch each motto earlier this week. Then I dyed trims, over dyed some  Moda alphabet fabric and selections buttons, and charms to put in the hand made button bags....so much to do around here! I will show some of the necessaries this weekend if I can take pictures. It has been dark with rain the past couple days. I will also have a another give-away so stay tuned! I made a great primitive necessarie......I think you are going to love this one.

Just how many floss colors do I have? Want a good laugh?

I had a gal email me and ask how many floss colors I have. I told her I have small sets of 3-4 colors (a couple dozen), boxed sets of 12 and 28, large sets of 46 and 80 colors and lots of singles.
So she asks how many colors(skeins) do you have if I buy one of each? I started counting......and counting......

And counting.......got tired of counting and told her I had roughly 438 singles from all the collections and sets. How many yards is that? 8,760 and I think it would keep you busy for quite a while.
She asks if I have any other colors..........ok I do have a few drawers of singles that I had from my early years. I put them into 50 skein sets and put them on sale. That's another 1,000 yards. She waited a few minutes and sent another email. How much of a discount can you give me if I buy one of each? These are regular price of $2 and I run a 15% off sale on ebay. So I told her $1.50 per skein (25% off), you pay the postage, and I will GIVE you one of the 50 skein sets (or you can have a yard of 32ct linen or some hand dyed aida). Total before postage is $657. Saves you $100 on the 50 skein set. She said I'll take it and you should offer this to other stitchers. Well I know a lot of stitchers who buy a lot of floss......and this is a lot of floss!
So......if anyone else is interested in this special just let me know. I can calculate postage for you. Believe me...you won't run out of floss for a very long time!!! And just to show how much of a discount this is...I am about 1/4 the price of other companies who sell 5 yards for $2-2.50. This amount would be over $4,000.00. Such a deal! lol

Thanks for stopping by.

Primitive Flowers Floss Set

Busy putting more floss sets together today.....lets call this one a Primitive Flowers set. 7 skeins, 140 yards of beautiful flower colors. I thought these were nice antique/primitive looking colors. Very nice shading in all but the Buttercup which is almost a solid yellow.

I will be dyeing floss for a couple more weeks, them more linen and then give the dye pot a rest for a while....and me! lol
I want to get back to designs and stitching. Other than stitching custom mottoes for customers this year, over a dozen of them, I have not stitched anything on linen. I need to have a retreat just to get some rest! Maybe after I move to the next house I will do just that.

Thanks for stopping by and seeing the new colors.

A few new Christmas and Primitive floss colors

I carded some new floss this week.....I don't think there is a week that goes by that I don't do floss around here......it always looks like a cotton factory exploded!
I did a new smaller Christmas colors set....the essentials.....Christmas Red, Old Fashioned Red, Olde Gold, Holly & Ivy, Dark Pine Boughs and Deep Forest Pine.
Then I added the Primitive color Primitive Taupe Brown.
And a Darkest Midnight Blue and Mixed Berry Patch. These will all be available in my ebay store tomorrow. I will be selling the Christmas as a set (and will give one away soon) and listing a lot of singles from the large Primitive Collection. I think there will be 18 singles for sale from this set. I had several requests to sell singles so I thought I would start with these.

Be sure you have signed up for all of the give-aways I have going right now. Someone always wins and it could be you!
Thanks for stopping by.
