So my husband (not the pest I am referring to....that's another pest)
comes back in from feeding the outdoor cats yesterday (a stray blessed us with 8 kittens and now resides in the chicken house under heat lamps) and informs me that the runt is not doing well. I told him "she's faking". He says.....no.....she's not doing well. I say a little louder "SHE'S FAKING". He repeats no, she's not doing well. Now....sucker that I am.....and I have raised orphaned kittens a dozen times....yes I have the milk replacer and bottles on hand.......I tell him to go get me the kitten. So the large pest brings me the very small pest. I pick her up...ok she's skinny and smaller than the rest.....but I swear she smiled and said sucker when I picked her up.
So I bottle feed said pest......and I TRY.......I said try to put her in the box with the heat lamp in my office. Nothing gets to me faster than a crying baby, a barking dog...or this pathetic little meow. That got louder by the minute until I picked her up again. Magic! Said pest shuts up the minute I pick her up. Does she shut up for the other members of the family....who don't have 3 dozen things to do???? Hell no! Sorry........it was a long night. So the pest has decided that being in my sweater pocket is not good enough. No. She needs to climb up to my shoulder and curl up under my neck. I might add at this point that I have allergies to cats. I have lung disease and the doctor has forbid me to be near pets. Can you hear me laughing at this point?
So the pest didn't want the grandsons to hold her, or my son who fed her at 3 for me. She "called" me for a half hour until I finally got back up....I swear she smiled again as I picked her up. She climbed up on my shoulder, tucked herself under my neck and at 4 in the morning started to purr for the first time. Cute? NO! Now I have a stuffy head, a headache, harder to breathe and a cat on my shoulder. I would gladly wrap her in priority mail stickers and put her in the mail box for anyone who wants her. Pest wouldn't even hold still long enough for me to take her picture....unless I do a selfie, which I don't do, and then you would see the new necklace I am wearing. Tortoiseshell colored.
So you know what I will be doing for New Year's Eve.
I hope the rest of you have fun....bringing in the new year (which I hope is fantastic for all of us) and remember that there is free shipping on this pest. That gives me an idea!!!!! The light bulb just went on! I know what will be my next give-away!! Stay tuned!!
Happy New Year!

It's back to work on the new floss line for 2016
I survived a very busy Christmas season........just about collapsed into a chair after the last custom order was in the mail the day before Christmas. My goodness was I tired. Lots of gifts sent out for the give-away....which was SO much fun once again. Thank you to all who entered.
After a couple days rest I am ready to get back to the new floss line. This will be the largest line I have done so far and as I said, these will be stock (repeat) colors and not limited editions. I will start with 130 colors which I will do over a two week period. I am doing different cards for this line as I have decided to list the color name on the card and under that I will put the DMC conversion and the two colors it is closest to. That was you can use these colors as a substitute for DMC colors. You will also be able to cross reference to other conversion charts. I have seen conversion charts that show DMC, GAST, Weeks, etc. So you can build up a collection of floss to do all your stitching. I will also make a conversion chart showing all my colors and I can post that for you to print to keep on hand. I should have that available as soon as all the floss is dyed and colors are named. The first round will be over 300,000 yards of floss to dye, count, and put on cards. Talk about a large project.....it's no wonder I put in such long days!
The floss takes up a tremendous amount of space around here. If you have been to my home you know that I have my office/display room. I will certainly have to move things around to make room for the new display wall. Six feet high and 10 foot long display for the new floss. Out with the old and in with the new. Speaking of new.....I hope this new year is better for all of us. After 8 months I can finally walk better after my knee injury. Steps are still a problem and I think that will not go away any time soon. I am a long ways away from knee replacement which is good....I have too much to do! Don't you hate when things slow you down? Earlier this year I was ready to throw in the towel....I hate to admit that but this was the second worst injury I have ever had. I am so glad it is behind me and I am up and running again. Well...walking faster. I'll take it. As they say....this is as good as it gets.
I have some nice ideas for new gift boxes of floss so be sure and stay tuned. Of course we will give some away! I am putting together a rainbow collection for January. I still have a few colors to dye for that one. I had to set up a larger room to dry the floss downstairs. One of these days I will just take over my husbands work building. It is 32 x 60 feet long.....what a floss factory I could set up in there. Hmmmmmm......now that's a good idea.
So this year is quickly coming to an end; so many plans and projects to do. With lots of floss to dye and so many give-aways for you!
Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by.
