Tell me what colors you like in flower collections

I am always creating new flower collections. I think these are my favorites. Especially the soft, antique looking flowers. But I know a lot of you like the brighter colors too.

I have just placed another large order for 300 cones from DMC and the dye pot will be busy for weeks. So.......I would love to hear what your favorite colors are for flower collections.

I am thinking of doing a second set of the Rocky Mountain Wildflowers since there are so many beautiful flowers to choose from. I already have a Kansas Wildflowers. I may do another set of antique dried flowers since so many of you like the antique look which is perfect for primitive stitching. All of the above mentioned sets are still available.

Dyeing 24 new colors each month for the limited editions clubs keeps me pretty busy trying to be creative with new colors. So tell me what you would like to see in flower collections. Or any collection for that matter. I already have a Christmas and Patriotic Collection....Red and Cream, Grandmother's Favorite Quilts, Mother's Flower Garden, The Heirloom Collection, Hearthside Collection....all of these are in my Ebay store or direct from me.

I am putting together another garden collection when I dye the next round of colors. I will announce that next month. And all of my newer collections will have DMC conversions if I can match them to a stock color. Sometimes the new color is so different (I love that!) that I have a totally new color that just isn't close to any DMC color.

I think I will be dyeing larger amounts and double the number of boxed sets. I usually dye 100 sets and I will dye 200 boxes of some of these newer collections.

I would love to hear from you! I value your opinions. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I love your sense of color, it's amazing and I can't even begin to imagine the colors for a new collection but I would like to see a collection based on Autumn in New England. Golds, reds, oranges, yellows, greens and a brown maybe. The colors of leaves, mums and dried corn stalks or Indian corn colors. Colors that make me want to put on my sweater, grab the hot cocoa and go for a walk in the woods.
    Thanks Nancy!

  3. The colors of the lupine are so beautiful, also those of the hellebores, they have such delicate coloring

    1. Yes I also love those delicate colors. Maybe a Lupine or Delphinium Collection.

  4. A rose garden, perhaps? I might be inspired by roses lately because our new place finally had a flower bloom in a pretty color - peace roses! That could work for smaller collections, maybe? Or a really big rose garden. Or a butterfly garden.

I am definitely one who likes bright colors. Another idea (a little silly) is Roadside Wildflowers. Chicory, primroses, buttercups, daisies, clover?

Or a national parks collection? Drawing colors from a park's theme or natural resources.

I seem to be on a nature kick! Looking forward to what you come up with.

    1. I have done rose collections and did a lot of the deep reds and pinks. Maybe a selection of lighter colors might be nice, almost pastels.

  5. Blues, purples, pinks, and yellow! With some greens, of course.

  6. I would love to see either a collection of wildflower colors (like one might find in a prairie/meadow or even the desert when it blooms), perhaps also an English country garden or perhaps a Celtic one (Scotland, Ireland and Wales). The wildflowers I think would be my most favorite!

    1. Celtic sounds very interesting. I will research their wildflowers. I have previously had a lot of English roses and things in a collection.

  7. Yesterday I sat down and went through all my floss collections from you. I am considering putting like colors together, but right now I have the flosses still grouped by collections. The colors in each collection go so beautifully together. I don't have ideas for new collections. I just want you to know how gifted I think you are and how wonderfully true to your intent I think your collections are. Thank you for your beautiful work.

  8. Wow!! You have already done so very many beautiful collections and you always seem to come up with more and more. My suggestion would be royal, jewel tones, deep royal blue, royal purple, bronze/sunset, deep royal green. I am so amazed how many beautiful threads that you manage to produce!! They are oh so fun to use too!!

  10. Your colors are all so gorgeous, but I would like to see more neutrals or paler tints. How about a collection based on granite, marble, quartz, etc? Neutrals with a little personality are very hard to find.

    1. I did have a lot of neutrals in the first Primitive collection. Maybe I will do another small boxed set. So much to dye this summer.

    2. I agree on the neutrals Nancy!

  12. Nancy, I like all of your colors! Old fashioned roses would be my color pick. One of the sets you gave away some months back had the color red maple in. There were other beautiful colors but that was the one that stood out because I love maple trees. Will this set be available?

    1. I was thinking of a new Autumn Leaves Collection for this fall. The red and oranges of the sugar maple trees. Gold and yellows...yellow orange, etc.

  13. Oh my gosh, you are going to fall over from overwork! Check out a rose catalog. They always have such gorgeous colors, and if you wanted to variegate some, there would be good ideas, like the old Peace Rose. Thank you for all you are doing - is it time to hire help yet? LOL

    1. Yes I have looked at a lot of pictures of flowers and roses for ideas. Hire help? I hired 3 wonderful gals (elves) to card floss for me and don't know how I got along before I hired them!

  14. How about state flowers? Growing up military & then marrying military, I've been all over creation (or so it seems). It would be interesting to see how they blend.

    1. I had a friend suggest the same thing earlier today. Maybe 4 sets.....I still need to look up the state flowers. I have been super busy today....and it is my day off! LOL I never take a day off so this was rare.

  16. Nancy, your colors are lovely.
In Florida, I really love the colors of the African Lily which I think you've come close to plus some of the Hibiscus colors.

  17. The first thing that pops into my mind is a set of tropical colors. Maybe not strictly floral, but just think of the bright oranges and yellows, the orchids, all the greens of the foliage, and don't forget the ocean!

    ReplyDelete
  18. State flowers would be fun! Just order Kansas Wildflowers!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I love orchids <3 Purples, pinks, yellows, white, green - exotic coloring.

I was thinking 'Oceans' too like Magpie Sue has commented. ;) The colors of all the corals and the sea life that make the corals their home.

  20. My favorites are earthy colors but I like to use all colors in my needle work. I like the sound of your Autumn Leaves Collection.

  21. They are all beautiful, but I do love the ones with some variegation to them! Purples and turquises are my favorite colors, but the more muted shades in any color really speak to me!

  22. I love rose, violet, chartreuse, burgundy, buttercup and a touch of blue grays. Don't know how you do everything Nancy. You are amazing.
