A little information you might want to read.
I am wholesale to the public simply to give stitchers a great deal and save you money. Plain and simple. I turn down requests from shops to carry my floss because it will raise the price for you. I discourage designers from using my floss in their designs because I will not put it in shops. I know you all appreciate the great price of my floss. I went into this business to prove that you can be generous with people and it simply isn't about making money. It's about sharing....and helping people on a tight budget who would like to stitch more. And having fun with lots of give-aways all year long. And if you have been a follower of mine you know how much I give back.
All of my repeat customers always buy direct from me. After their first Ebay sale I ask for direct sales. Ebay fees are high. And we have to pay 10% of the postage. But now they have dropped our discounts as top rated sellers. They used to entice you to be a top rated seller and then you received 20% off the fees you paid to list and sell items. Well they have dropped that to 10% and that is just not acceptable to me. Their fees are steadily going up and discounts going down for sellers. So.......
The prices in my ebay store will go up 10% very soon. I ask my regular customers to browse the ebay store but purchase directly from me if you want the sale price.
I hope you understand my position. I can sell wholesale to the public but I can't take a loss. I'm generous....not dumb! LOL
Thank you for listening. I know quite a few people who are leaving Ebay because they have had enough. I will work with them a little longer and then maybe do a separate web site. All I need to do is find enough hours in the day to get all of this done. I have more important things to do....like dye floss! LOL
Nancy
Nancy, thank you for sharing this information and keeping us in the loop. You need to do what you have to about Ebay, but I am thankful that you encourage and allow us to purchase from you directly. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Robin. Have a nice holiday.
DeleteThank you so much Nancy for the info. You are always so kind and generous with you time and talents.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Rose
Very kind of you Rose....thanks so much.
DeleteInteresting. eBay, Yelp... and I'm sure there are more making it harder to be kind to your friends. Thanks for sharing. You have to do what's best for you; you're so incredibly generous to us!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I am hoping everyone will understand.
DeleteThank you Nancy for all of your colors of thread, and for letting us order from you. You are a very special person. Take care. Debbie
ReplyDeleteYou are very kind Debbie and I appreciate your business very much!
DeleteYou could add pages to your blog. Offer floss collections on one, singles on another, designs on another. Orders will come in comments and your blog settings can make them go directly to you first instead of being shown. You can add a Paypal link from their website, or a Paypal.me to your blog also. Just a thought until you work out a website or solution. I'll stop butting in now.
ReplyDeleteI do currently sell a lot from my blog posts. All of the recent flower collections and many others. Thank you for your input. Never butting in!
DeleteThank you for your kind generosity, Nancy. My husband sells on eBay and they are not making it easy.
ReplyDeleteI feel for him....they make it miserable.
DeleteYou are so very generous Nancy. Thank you for this information. Your colors are gorgeous and I love stitching with your flosses.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Kimberly!
DeleteEbay has made buying and selling hell for everyone. What made them great in the first place has long been gone. It's greed and it shouldn't be fed. I hope you do get a website. It would be wonderful for us but a lot more work for you. Hope you are having a relaxing weekend honoring all those who fought so we can have this conversation. You are the best.
ReplyDeleteThank you Krissy. I will work it out in time. All my regular customers already buy direct.
DeleteThanks for this update Nancy. You go way above & beyond to be a blessing to all of us stitchers. I appreciate that so much! I sure hope you find a venue that works to sell your floss at a profit, and I hope it's an easy transition.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Marly's comment about adding pages to your blog to sell.

Thanks so much. I have a lot of suggestions and lots of time to work it out.
DeleteHave you ever looked into an Etsy shop? I like another reader's suggestion to just show your wares here on additional pages on your blog. I prefer buying directly anyway. Never did like buying via eBay. So far Etsy has worked out well for me as a customer though.
ReplyDeleteThank you......I have an Etsy account....fees were about the same as Ebay when I checked and selling here on my blog allows me to give all of you the best prices.
DeleteI'm behind you 100%, Nancy. I think you can show things on your blog, or have a separate blog. I think Etsy is still fairly reasonable, and I'm not sure about Craftsy, though I buy there a lot. There's also Pay-Hip which more and more of my friends are going to for selling. I think eBay is stabbing themselves in the foot with this new policy. Actually, I like what you show in blog posts and in your sidebar, so I rarely go to dBay.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan. I have thought about Etsy....and maybe a Facebook store. Lots of possibilities.
DeleteThank you for this information hugs from Belgium Marie-Claire
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
DeleteSo sorry to hear of the hard time with EBay! I have so appreciated all that you have done...blessings as you work this out!
ReplyDeleteThanks....I will work it out. Most of my boxed sets I already sell direct so I will keep showing them here.
DeleteCan you use your blog to sell your floss we already read it then we can buy from it just a thought
ReplyDeleteHugs Donna
Thank you Donna. Yes....anything you see on my blog just send me an email and I send a Paypal request. And a lot of my regular customers mail me personal checks.
DeleteThank you for the info Nancy. You are so very generous and kind. I love to see all of the beautiful floss you create. I browse your Ebay store often and wish I could buy everything. I don't know how you do it all. I hope it all works out for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Fran. I will tolerate Ebay for a while.
DeleteNancy your are a Rare Breed. You have always been upfront, honest and Generous with both your fans and customers for as long as I have been getting your emails. Thank you for alerting us to the new changes being enforced by eBay..I dont think any of your fans or custoners would be angry at you for raising your prices. You have such a kind heart always sharing your talent and blessings without thinking of cost...Anyone who disagree with your new prices..does not know the person we have come to know.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. I try very hard to bring you a quality product at an affordable price and I will continue to do so. I truly love to share.
DeleteSuch a shame Nancy when so many benefit from your kindness. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Lin. I will continue to sell wholesale here on my blog.

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about all your troubles with Ebay! You are very kind to be so generous and supportive of your customers. From now on I will simply buy from you here! Thanks for letting us know. I hope you have a very special Memorial Day!!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your support Ann. Have a nice holiday!
DeleteWow. Ebay used to be great. I have always bought directly from you anyway, so this won't affect me, I just hope it doesn't hurt your business! You could always set up a business page on Facebook. :)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you informing your customers. Sorry Ebay is being cantankerous and troublesome. I will continue to buy directly from you, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being so kind and generous to us all!!!
