This is a famous quote from a chaplain on December 7, 1941, aboard a U.S. Navy ship during the attack at Pearl Harbor. He went up and down the line encouraging the men by saying "praise the Lord and Pass the ammunition"
It was then made into a song with lyrics by Frank Loesser. By 1943 the song reached no. 1 on the billboard chart.
He donated the royalties from sales of the song to the Navy Relief Society.
