DATED today January 26-27th 2016
loss followers update
I noted I lost another 300 followers just last night.... ( jan 26)
All of them were those who followed who did not have a GOOGLE ACCOUNT...
sadly it reflects on our numbers but not visitors...
Those who follow you will still follow you ....
I have not lost visitors, in fact you have been following more each day
than last year...so thank you....
Many of you will note your followers have dropped too this morning,
you did not offend 10-12-100 followers in a day....
it is not PERSONAL....just GOOGLE trying to make things better for us....
( your lost followers by the way will not be reflected back in your numbers
they are gone forever...sad to say)
here is their message..
Dear bloggers,
As we mentioned some weeks ago, starting this week, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other OpenId providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. To follow a blog via Google Friend Connect now, readers will need a Google Account (the same they use for Gmail or YouTube). There will be no need for readers to be signed in, or to have a Google+ profile.
- What does this mean for you and your blog? We’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count
- What can you do now? You should encourage your users to re-follow your blog using a Google account. Another way to allow users to follow your blog is with the “Follow by Email” gadget, which requires you to set up Feedburner. By subscribing to your blog, readers will be notified via e-mail every time there is a new post.
Sooooo.......I want to make sure my followers have a chance for my give-aways, Do you have a google account? It is so easy to sign up....I do encourage you. Don't get discouraged....simply sign up again to follow so you have a chance at some great gifts from my give-aways.
Thanks for listening.......I wish they would quit changing things!!!!!!!!!
Nancy
It is so frustrating how Google/Blogger changes these things.... some change is good but other changes are just plain silly!
ReplyDeleteHope your missing followers link up again real soon as your giveaways are too gorgeous to miss out on ;o)
Hugs xx
I was wondering why my followers dropped off today. I am glad you let us know.
ReplyDeleteFrustrating, isn't it? And I want all my followers to be signed in for the give-aways. Drives me crazy when they change things.
DeleteI have a google account but I follow my blogs via a feed reader. So I'm not sure how that affects your follower numbers.
ReplyDeleteI am not concerned about the numbers...just concerned that my followers will get a chance for the give-aways.
DeleteAre you a follower at the right by Faithful Friends?
I am now, if I wasn't before. ;)
DeleteLOL Thank you Google for making life easier for me...LOL I have a google account, so I just signed back up at Faithful Friends. You are well worth following, Nancy! Have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Angela!
ReplyDeleteI follow you and all my blogs through Bloglovin. I love it. I also think I follow you the normal way too. But it's not easy to check that out on my phone and I'm rarely on a regular computer for leisure activities.
ReplyDeleteI use a reader too, but still sign up under everyone's GFC so I show up as a "follower". Some bloggers think you aren't a follower unless you sign up under their GFC, which isn't true. Sad that Google is messing with it. I didn't realize people could use GFC without a Google account. I'm sure the active visitors will find you and follow you again!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information! Have a lovely day
ReplyDeleteThanks for this explanation Nancy. I did notice. Now I know.
ReplyDeleteThis is a problem. I have no idea what my gmail account is...Its under my husband's name and I have no clue how that happened. My blog is under my kids's other blog name....this is what happens when these systems start linking emails and accounts with no consideration for their configuration. I am trying to create a new gmail account but it won't let me because it thins that my yahoo account is alreayd taken up..by...you guessed it, the accts set up under my husband's name. I am sure others will have issues, too. Thanks for all you do Nancy but I won't be able to sign up anymore as I don't know how to become a follower with gmail. I am a follower on your email feed so maybe that is still good. Let me know. Thank you! Oh, and email will come up in any way, maybe under Ragathnor or Kevin...beats me.
ReplyDeleteAny of you can email me an entry for a give-away. I want to make sure everyone gets a chance at a gift.
DeleteSheesh! I figured since I follow via google that I was still a follower but to make sure I signed up to follow again...and google took it (instead of telling me I was already a follower). Not sure what that's all about.
ReplyDeleteDon't you sometimes wish they'd just leave things alone instead of "improving"?
My followers have dropped three different times now, luckily I have a goggle acct. but I did go through the Faithful Followers list just to make sure I was still there.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sandy
Im still here! love you, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tami! Love you too! lol
DeleteIm still here! love you, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness I have a Google account! How are the kittens doing? Do you still have one in the house with you? Hugs! Krissy B.
ReplyDeleteALL of the little monsters have good homes. The free kittens sign worked wonders! lol
DeleteThanks for this post Nancy... As you know, I have been away from blogging for a while...I started back again a few weeks ago, and after my last post came on to see that I had lost several followers. I was ready to hang up my blogging shoes for good. But then I remembered seeing this info about the Google accounts. Ewww...just another hoop to jump through (and confuse me LOL). Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteI noticed today that my followers had really dropped! I hadn't read this before and was shocked thinking people had tired of me. lol So glad to know the real reason. I think I'm going to post information similar to what you did here so people can follow me again, if they want to. Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteBlessings - Julie
