It's back to work on the new floss line for 2016

I survived a very busy Christmas season........just about collapsed into a chair after the last custom order was in the mail the day before Christmas. My goodness was I tired. Lots of gifts sent out for the give-away....which was SO much fun once again. Thank you to all who entered.

After a couple days rest I am ready to get back to the new floss line. This will be the largest line I have done so far and as I said, these will be stock (repeat) colors and not limited editions. I will start with 130 colors which I will do over a two week period. I am doing different cards for this line as I have decided to list the color name on the card and under that I will put the DMC conversion and the two colors it is closest to. That was you can use these colors as a substitute for DMC colors. You will also be able to cross reference to other conversion charts. I have seen conversion charts that show DMC, GAST, Weeks, etc. So you can build up a collection of floss to do all your stitching. I will also make a conversion chart showing all my colors and I can post that for you to print to keep on hand. I should have that available as soon as all the floss is dyed and colors are named. The first round will be over 300,000 yards of floss to dye, count, and put on cards. Talk about a large project.....it's no wonder I put in such long days!

The floss takes up a tremendous amount of space around here. If you have been to my home you know that I have my office/display room. I will certainly have to move things around to make room for the new display wall. Six feet high and 10 foot long display for the new floss. Out with the old and in with the new. Speaking of new.....I hope this new year is better for all of us. After 8 months I can finally walk better after my knee injury. Steps are still a problem and I think that will not go away any time soon. I am a long ways away from knee replacement which is good....I have too much to do! Don't you hate when things slow you down? Earlier this year I was ready to throw in the towel....I hate to admit that but this was the second worst injury I have ever had. I am so glad it is behind me and I am up and running again. Well...walking faster. I'll take it. As they say....this is as good as it gets.

I have some nice ideas for new gift boxes of floss so be sure and stay tuned. Of course we will give some away! I am putting together a rainbow collection for January. I still have a few colors to dye for that one. I had to set up a larger room to dry the floss downstairs. One of these days I will just take over my husbands work building. It is 32 x 60 feet long.....what a floss factory I could set up in there. Hmmmmmm......now that's a good idea.

So this year is quickly coming to an end; so many plans and projects to do. With lots of floss to dye and so many give-aways for you!
Have a great day. Thanks for stopping by.

  11. I love the sound of a new line of floss! Can't wait until those little guys hit the market. Once you take over your husband's work space, just act surprised when he wonders how that happened. Also, I love the idea of the DMC colors listed on the card as well as a conversion chart. THAT will be very helpful. Wish I was there to help card all of that floss. Glad you are getting around better and hope that the New Year will see more improvement. Happy New Year!

  18. Sounds like the kind of place I'd love to visit! Getting conversion charts would be great. I have some of your flosses and wonder if they will have any more variegation in them. Some seem to be a pretty solid color. Some patterns is like to see more dark to light. But the conversion from Weeks would be great. I love your floss 100 times more than that line!!! Glad to hear you have recouped well so far. Hope you have a wonderful 2016!!!

    1. Thank you......I'm not sure about a whole floss factory....my whole reason for selling floss is to sell wholesale to stitchers to give them a great price. A factory would defeat that purpose....so I will keep plugging along for now. BUT.....Santa could send me lots of helpers!!!!!! Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks so much Judy. As I have told everyone over the years....my whole purpose of selling the floss wholesale to the public is to give fellow stitchers a break on the floss. It will be a lot of work for this new line but I am really looking forward to all of these new colors! Sending back some great New Year wishes for you too! Filled with lots of stitching projects!
