So my husband (not the pest I am referring to....that's another pest)
comes back in from feeding the outdoor cats yesterday (a stray blessed us with 8 kittens and now resides in the chicken house under heat lamps) and informs me that the runt is not doing well. I told him "she's faking". He says.....no.....she's not doing well. I say a little louder "SHE'S FAKING". He repeats no, she's not doing well. Now....sucker that I am.....and I have raised orphaned kittens a dozen times....yes I have the milk replacer and bottles on hand.......I tell him to go get me the kitten. So the large pest brings me the very small pest. I pick her up...ok she's skinny and smaller than the rest.....but I swear she smiled and said sucker when I picked her up.
So I bottle feed said pest......and I TRY.......I said try to put her in the box with the heat lamp in my office. Nothing gets to me faster than a crying baby, a barking dog...or this pathetic little meow. That got louder by the minute until I picked her up again. Magic! Said pest shuts up the minute I pick her up. Does she shut up for the other members of the family....who don't have 3 dozen things to do???? Hell no! Sorry........it was a long night. So the pest has decided that being in my sweater pocket is not good enough. No. She needs to climb up to my shoulder and curl up under my neck. I might add at this point that I have allergies to cats. I have lung disease and the doctor has forbid me to be near pets. Can you hear me laughing at this point?
So the pest didn't want the grandsons to hold her, or my son who fed her at 3 for me. She "called" me for a half hour until I finally got back up....I swear she smiled again as I picked her up. She climbed up on my shoulder, tucked herself under my neck and at 4 in the morning started to purr for the first time. Cute? NO! Now I have a stuffy head, a headache, harder to breathe and a cat on my shoulder. I would gladly wrap her in priority mail stickers and put her in the mail box for anyone who wants her. Pest wouldn't even hold still long enough for me to take her picture....unless I do a selfie, which I don't do, and then you would see the new necklace I am wearing. Tortoiseshell colored.
So you know what I will be doing for New Year's Eve.
I hope the rest of you have fun....bringing in the new year (which I hope is fantastic for all of us) and remember that there is free shipping on this pest. That gives me an idea!!!!! The light bulb just went on! I know what will be my next give-away!! Stay tuned!!
Happy New Year!
Nancy
Sorry, it's illegal to ship live animals. Lol lol That give away will have to be picked up. Your pest is adorable though. What did you name her beyond pest? Lol lol
ReplyDeleteYou never name a pest you are not going to keep! There will be a sign out front when she is 8 weeks old for FREE KITTENS. All 8 of them!
DeleteActually, it's not! :)
DeleteAwwww - you are the pest's mama!!! Have fun! (antihistamine time)

Happy New Year Cindy!
DeleteHappy New Year to you and your pest! They know exactly how to get to us, don't they? I wonder if there is a secret instruction book somewhere for cats on that subject... :)
ReplyDeleteThey all know how to get to your heart for sure.
DeleteHappy New Year!
She's adorable! But not fun with your allergies. the pickles we get into when our hearts overrule our heads!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blessed 2016.
Happy New Year!
DeleteOMG! I'm laughing because you are such a kind heart and not one of us would believe that you didn't take the little pest in. She will rule your world for awhile...if not longer. So sweet. I wish you the very best 2016(which is off to a good start) and may the world have less sad news and more happy news, you know, like the lady who saved a little pest and it's family. Hugs! Krissy B.
ReplyDeleteA kind heart can get you into a whole lot of trouble!
DeleteHappy New Year!
So sorry to hear of your health problems...but as my Dad used to say...did you feed that Stray? It is yours now. Pest thinks you are the Mom...lol. I would do the same thing. I am glad there are other soft hearts out there. Pest is adorable. I have two cats from my older son and two from my younger son and a dog who was my Dad's before my Dad died. If I did not have all these room mates, I would love to have Pest. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThe pest is on my shoulder as I type.....
DeleteHappy New Year!
Nancy, thank you for the giggle. The tiny pest is adorable, but please don't send her here. I bet though there is a nearby stitcher who would love to have her. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Robin!!
DeleteI hope you got an epi pen. Nothing's worse than spending the night in E/R on a holiday except staying at home gasping for air. Good luck with Pest #1 and Pest #2! lol Happy New Year!

DeleteDear Nancy,
ReplyDeletehappy new year and congratulations to your new pest. Isn't she just adorable, so cute. You can beam her to me, love cats.
Greetings,
Sylvia
I wish I could beam her to you! I have to quit holding her as of today....the breathing is getting so bad. It's a shame as she is so darn cute.
DeleteHave a very Happy New Year!
Oh, so sweet, Nancy! It's good that people like you look after the strays. My SIL used to do the same in San Francisco however she has now moved to Oregon and I know she has left the responsibility to the other people who were also feeding them there. It's so kind of you to do this, and I enjoyed reading about it!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your Pests!
Barbara xx
It does make you feel good to take care of the strays. Someone in need breaks my heart and I have to do something.
DeleteHappy New Year!
What a darling little kitten. She knows a soft touch...LOL. Your kindness shows through! That could be her name... Take care. Happy New Year! Hope it brings many good things to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy.....Happy New Year!

DeleteHappy New Year Nancy!!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Spain
Hugs and a Happy New Year!!!
DeleteLol! Just reading what you wrote made my day. You have a gift for writing. Thought of doing a book?! In our town people know the people in the yellow house with the white picket fence are animal lovers. I have had the mailman bring me a stray kitten, someone with a old sick cat have dropped it in our yard. Even as I was doing dishes one day out of my kitchen window I saw a car pull up and out of the car window threw a litter of kittens over the fence into our yard! God must know the people who have a heart for caring for abandoned creatures. You are one of the " blessed"! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin. My only writings are poetry for my own personal use and sampler verses.
DeleteIsn't it amazing how people can throw animals away? I have had them dumped in my yard too. At least these are those of us who will take them in. Wish I could help them all......have a great New Year!
LOL! I have pet allergies, too. That's why mini schnauzers were perfect, they have hair, not fur, so less dander. But they bring the outdoors in with them and I'm allergic to all that, too. I would love that kitten, who looks perfectly healthy to me, as I lost my baby Taz on 8/24 and her big sister Jojo a month later. I'm seriously missing animal cuddles. But my Jeff says he's the only animal allowed in the house now. (And he's not doing so well either suffering from autoimmune issues. I keep telling him a new puppy would help--then we both cry.) Doncha love animals!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Santa Nancy!
Yes I do love animals and it's a shame I have these health issues. Sympathy for your husband as I have several autoimmune diseases.....I long for the good old days before I got so sick. Maybe one of these days I will go into remission......that would be heavenly. Here's to a Happy New Year for all of us!!
DeleteAww she's adorable! Sorry she's giving you such trouble I would totally take her if my landlord allowed pets
ReplyDeleteAdorable....yes...and a pain!
DeleteHappy New Year!!
Happy New Year and all the best for you, your family and all the followers of your and mine blog!

Happy New Year.
Happy New Year!!!! And I am making the free kittens sign this week....no fun but necessary.
DeleteHa Ha!!! That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time!! And I am such a sucker for a kitten (and chocolate, old shoes, wine...you name it) that I could be tempted to give you my addy. ;o) Pest knows a good soul when she sees one. Wishing you the very happiest of new years...filled with joys, blessings, magic, and miracles...and, yes, a few wonderful pests. ;o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
