80 skeins, 1600 yards of floss set

The Complete 1795 Floss Collection has 80 skeins, 20 yards each. 1600 yards of floss! I will be phasing this out and I only have two sets left if anyone is interested. Pictured at the right, a great selection of colors. I will still have singles of a lot of the colors until they are sold out as I am not reproducing them since I will have the new line of repeat (stock) colors this year.
I simply need to make room for all the new floss colors. I gave away (donated) a lot of floss recently of the smaller amounts of the single colors. You can't imagine how large of an area it takes to display and store each color. Some of you have asked for pictures of my display but it is going to be a couple more weeks before it is all put together. Each time I get back to work on the floss I get more orders for stitched and framed mottoes. Once again I got 2 orders yesterday so I will be carving frames today and stitching mottoes for a couple days. I am always amazed at the number of people who admire the mottoes but have never taken a stitch of any type. I guess we all figure that each of us learned as young girls to do a little simple embroidery, crochet or something similar. I remember one Christmas when I was 5 my Mother gave me the little metal loom kit to make pot holders with all the colorful stretch loops. Do you remember those looms? I believe they are still selling them but they are now plastic. Anyways....I sat and made pot holders until the entire package was empty! Then I went on to all kinds of needlework and crafts. I was 10 when my grandmother gave me two needlepoint pictures with ornate oval frames. The flowers were finished in the middle and you simply filled in the background with the continental stitch. My stitches were not perfect but I still have the pictures displayed on my wall. I think we all cherish things we saved from when we were little....I am a pack rat that saves everything. I have other cherished items that I will share with you another time....another story.

So back to work......then back to dyeing floss for the new line.
And be sure you have signed up for the next two give-aways, the Rainbow Floss boxed set will be on the 25th and the 28th will be for the pick your favorite color box of floss.
Have a great week.
Nancy

    1. Don't you just love hand made things? Even greeting cards...we always write our own to each other. My son is 45 now....and before a holiday he always says...I know...hand made card!

  2. I really like your THE STITCHING PARLOR motto. But, I would really rather have just the chart. Do you sell it that way? I will admit I might have missed it because I didn't scroll through all of your pages. It was just too tempting.

  4. I always thought that everyone was taught to sew too. I did not have a grandmother to teach me but my mom taught me to sew, crochet, embroider and she tried to show me how to knit. I know the basics of knitting but like the other needlework better. I lost my mom about a year ago but she lives in my memory especially when I pick up a needle or crochet hook. My sisters and I also had those potholder looms.

I love your rainbow floss collection. Please enter me in the give away and take a break :) You work so hard.

    1. I was always so busy, even when I was a little girl. Sewing, crafting, making all kinds of things. I hated to sleep....still do! Such a waste of precious time when I could be making something!! LOL

  5. I remember the pot holders made with the metal frame and loops. Made alot of them when I was little. I also remember stitching needlepoint pictures where you just did the background. Have a couple that my Mom did hanging in my home and a seat on a chair in my craft room that was stitched that way. Lots of good memories. Love your give a ways and please enter me in the latest ones.

    1. Don't you cherish the hand made things and love the memories!! I think I have everything that anyone ever made me......our house burned to the ground when I was 9. Nine kids....what a loss of everything. From that day on I became a pack rat. And if you saw my house you would believe me!

  7. I had a metal potholder frame and cotton loops. Didn't like the nylon loops that soon came out. The crocheted edges were my first experience with a crochet hook :)

    1. I also liked the cotton loops better. I remember the first chain I crocheted...I think it got to about 30 feet long because that was all I knew how to do when I was 6!

  9. My goodness you must have very little time for yourself. That was great keeping something you made, I don't have anything I made when I was younger, my mother was a perfectionist and if it wasn't good enough she would throw it away. Never mind, I keep all my things now. Take care, Guida.

    1. I wish you had some of those treasures....my Mother didn't keep my things either. I have everything my kids ever made. That's what became important to me. And some day I will give it all back to them. From the first preschool paper when my son was 2.

  12. I had one of those looms as well. Made potholders and my Mom used some for hot pads for years. I learned to crochet from my paternal grandmother when I was 7 and my mother taught me embroidery when I was the same age I think. I remember embroidering pillow cases for mothers day or their anniversary not sure which.

  13. I wish all women today could do these forms of needlework. When I was little the world was at such a slower pace than it is now...and so much better. We all had time to sit and learn a craft.
