You must try this hand dyed wool!

I have been using hand dyed wool, that is already felted for you, from a great source that I found earlier this year. You can also get your wool not felted if you so desire. Melvina has the nicest colors....I am using her Berry Red in my red and cream Necessaries to make the needle pages and the little button bag. It is SO nice to work with....and because it is felted it doesn't ravel along the edges. I have other projects in mind for some of her other colors.

Please take a look and don't hesitate to purchase from her. The customer service is excellent! Add that to a great product, quick shipping....and it doesn't get any better than that!
Check out her online store (hollyhock hill designs) here:
http://hollyhockhilldesigns.com/catalog.php?category=22

She also carries rug hooking kits and designs.

I love to support other businesses in this tough economy we are all in. Hop over and check her out!
Thank you in advance.

Enter now!

From the previous listing:

Free Christmas Ornament pattern, bells, floss and wood buttons with Door hanging chart

I stitched an ornament from the extra chart included with the door hanging chart. Included are the bells.....but to add to the previous post.....I am giving free over dyed floss (for both charts!) to the first 200 charts sold....yes 200 since this is selling so quickly. I will ALSO INCLUDE the two little wood hearts I sewed on the back of the ornament. I did a simple finish, envelope enclosure so when it is turned you do not have to sew anything shut! You can if you prefer...just whip stitch it closed or add a button. I used some of the same red bias ribbon, cut it narrow and made a hanger and bows. I like bias ribbon because you can ruffle the edges or fray them easily for a primitive look. As I said, you can antique your linen to look primitive. The finished size of the ornament on 32ct linen is 3" x 3-1/2".
Stitch count on the door hanger is 119 x 152. Ornament is 53 x 45.
I use full cross stitches in my designs. This is charted for dmc but as I said I am including free over dyed floss with the first 200 charts.

I finished my new pattern for my Jingle as Ye Enter door hanger/wall hanging. It would look good on either one. It is a quick finish and very easy. The back is an envelope style so there is no hand stitching a seam closed after you turn it right side out. I did a simple 1" fold over to the back and whipped stitched it down as a sleeve for a wood dowel. I used simple red bias ribbon for a hanger and bows. I stitched this on 32ct Belgian linen in an antique champagne shade. I over dyed some dark Christmas red, green and gold floss and a nice medium brown for the birds. I love the nice quality little brass bells that the birds hold dangling on a string from their beaks. I used a dark red fabric for backing and a layer of fusible fleece to back the stitched piece to give it lots of body.
*****A BONUS  with this pattern is that you can make an ornament from the bird in the upper left corner. That extra pattern is included along with 6 small antique brass bells (2 for the ornament and 4 for the door hanger). The bells along the bottom are optional and sold separately ($2) or use your own. I wanted to do a pattern that could be primitive if you used a darker fabric or antique the fabric. I wanted the brighter colors for my décor.
The finished size is 8" wide by 10-1/2" tall without the hanger.
Remember....this is a chart with bells and not a whole kit.

Lots of details!!  The pattern for both the door hanger and ornament will be $10.99 plus postage and includes the 6 little bells. This will have to go in a padded envelope. This is charted for DMC floss.
*****BONUS***** The first 200 charts that I sell will include all the over dyed floss in the colors shown to complete the door hanging and the ornament! email nbelgian@aol.com if you want one.

I love to share with all of you and I know it helps to include all the floss and extras with a chart.

Now lets antique what we stitched!

I am bold....and have no problem jumping into a project with a positive "it's going to turn out fine" attitude. So for me....I love how this turned out. This took me 5 minutes to do! You could antique the fabric first...but I like to do it after so I can put some over the stitching to truly make it look old.
I don't use coffee or tea......I don't care what they say...acid is acid...and if you are an archival buff.....you don't put acid to stain fabric unless you are going to wash it out. I use Ranger Archival, acid free, permanent and waterproof inks. I used Sepia and Coffee on this one. You can see how it looks when I was half done with the Sepia. Then I added the coffee color. I used the ink pad as an applicator (I told you I was bold) and then I used a paint brush to rub in areas with softer or darker color. I also dabbed these colors on the cotton twill hanger. Using ink on fabric will require a drying time of 24 hours or more. You can then heat set it with your iron if you like.....it doesn't require it. You just want to make sure it is good and dry before you handle it.
***If you have ever stitched with over dyed floss and the color has rubbed off a bit too much on the fabric, you can use this technique to shade the fabric and around the lettering. You can use a very light ink or go dark and drastic for a really grungy and primitive look.
The end result is a bit darker than these photos. I tried using the flash as you can see....and I just can't capture the rich color of the ink. I should buy a really good camera. One of these days.

I thought I would share that with all of you. There are so many nice fabrics out there...but if you have one that is too light you might consider this technique. Practice on scraps first.....so you don't get mad at me!!!! LOL

New Primitive Merry Christmas hanger with bells give-away!

Decorating the Tree
My newest design and the chart comes with the 8 small brass bells, the wood Christmas Tree button  and the 4 large "antiqued" brass bells. I will even include the cotton twill hanger!

The finished size is 5" x 8". (99x73 stitches)
***Charted for Dmc but the first 100 charts sold will include my own hand dyed floss for free!  I stitched this on my own Antique Champagne 32ct linen.
The chart and goodies is $10.99 and you can order direct from me, nbelgian@aol.com. Postage is extra. I will list this in my ebay store as well. **You need to order direct from me to get the free floss.
I have always done designs for me...and finished the way I like them. After I stitched and finished the hanging, I then strung a small bell on 2 strands of red floss and tacked it to the beak of the first bird. Then I "strung" the garland across the front of the tree and sewed on another bell with one stitch and continued all across the tree. It doesn't get any easier than that and I like the 3D effect.
The back of the hanging is envelope style. I love this closure because the linen doesn't even wrinkle when you turn it right side out. Then I sewed on a little wood Christmas tree button.

I just wanted to share my new design with you. Shall we give a couple away? Of course!! I knew you were waiting to get to the give-away!
You must be a follower......you must post a comment here. Post on your blog and get 25 more entries. Send a friend and get 25 more entries. Drawing to be Dec 1st. This is an easy stitch and that will give you plenty of time to stitch it to enjoy this holiday season.
Thanks for stopping by to visit with me today. Lets keep the holiday give-aways rolling along......

We are quickly going through November and around here that means more give-aways!!! Heading into the Christmas season (47 days from today is Christmas).....and Santa gave me a reminder call to get with it and give more away!  Soooo....you get to pick the color of a Sewing Necessaire! Lots of goodies included with each one and each will be different. Floss, trims, buttons, charms, mother of pearl floss rings, a heart mother of pearl button, etc. Always to include my hand made felted wool button bag with coilless pin enclosure and the wool felt needle pages with the large antique brass flower head safety pin.
I have a lot of Moda fabrics in these...I love how when you fold them you can change the pattern on some, especially when you have two layered together. Then I offset them a little and when folded you see layers of different prints.
These will all be listed in my ebay store tomorrow or can be purchased directly from me. They are $24 each plus postage.

Rules: You must be a follower. You must post a comment here. Post on your blog and get 25 more entries. Send a friend and get 25 more entries. We want lots of stitchers to have a chance. Lets give several away. Drawing to be December 1st to start the Christmas count down. Winners will be able to pick their favorite color!
Good luck everyone! Let the comments begin! And yes....I am wearing my Santa hat as I work.......and playing Christmas music....this Christmas work shop works year round! I just wish I had elves to help me.

A gift and a great new Design from Stitchers Anon

Gaynor from Stitchers Anon had designed a new chart and has dedicated it to me. I am so touched by this sweet gesture from a dear friend. She has used the floss and trims from my Gingerbread Trim Bag. Here is part of her post:
Well, she brought out a pack of gingerbread trims and I fell in love with it: so much so I felt inspired to say thank you to Nancy in the only way I really can.

I designed this: The Scent of Ginger.

The house etc is stitched in Nancy's Dark Ginger Thread..it was perfect and so easy to seperate and use.  I didn't get one single tangle which is unusual for me and overdyed threads!

This was stitched on 32 count Belfast Linen (summer khaki) but I am thinking of stitching on 28 count and stitching some of the lace to the bottom of her skirt: there are trims in all three shades of the ginger that I used here.

And here it is with one of the buttons from the pack.

They look different colours but it got dark here really early and it was hard to take a proper photo. Sorry. The top one is probably truer to the colour scheme as I scanned it but had to use the camera once I had added the button.

I am looking forwards to seeing how I can use more of the trims when I work out how I am going to finish it.

This chart is available free.....yes, you heard right...FREE from Nancy when you purchase a pack of her ginger trims.  I'm not sure yet if it will be via pdf or hard copy.

You can also buy the chart from me minus the trims..however, to really get it to look right you should use her thread though I have colour matched to DMC best I could.

Nancy, this is my gift to you to say thank you: you can offer it as a gift to your customers, also to say thank you: and people can promise not to email it or scan it and send it freely on the sly and that will be their gift to me and for that I thank them xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you Gaynor from the bottom of my heart. I love your new design and I will be happy to print them and give them with my Gingerbread Trims Pack. I also urge you to buy one from her directly. http://stitchersanon.blogspot.com/2013/11/new-release-for-nancy-scent-of-ginger.html
The internet has made the world a much smaller place...and meeting friends like you has been the best part of this business.
Lots of love,
Nancy
